Switch Back to the South

Time to leave the north of the island of Siquijor and return to the south. We woke up early for our final walk along the deserted beach. We spotted hundreds of starfish basking in the early morning sun. We tried to find the brown sea slugs that Darryl had seen the day before but to no avail. However we did spot an unusual pale green one!

Chocolate porridge and bananas gave us a good start to the day before it was time to jump in the dive van and head back to Larena. We were dropped off at the town centre where we immediately transferred to a tricycle with some locals heading to Siquijor town.

In Siquijor town we explored the church and the local market before being tempted to try the pumkin coconut curry at a street stall. It was delicious! Shortly after we found another tricycle to San Juan and climbed aboard.

The tricycle dropped us outside our hotel but we were a little early and our room wasn't ready. We left our bags and walked to the centre of San Juan. Here we stocked up on essential snacks before walking through the market. Afterwards we we went for lunch ... for a second time!

On the walk back to our homestay we filled the water bottle at the water filter shop. Snorkeling followed in the crystal clear water, however low tide and a barrier of unfriendly sea urchins prevented entry to the sea later in the day.

A fresh fish BBQ provided supper which we shared with a French girl who was leaving the next day. The family ate chicken soup. They made it toyally fresh. One minute a live chicken ... the next, chicken soup for the whole family.

We will be spending the next few days here in our usual routine. Eat, snorkel, eat ...
